Pura D’Or Hair Care Review

Pura D'Or

I’ve been MIA from blogging for the past month or so with finals coming and the year coming to an end, so I definitely apologize for my absence. My next post will likely be in mid-May, at which point I will return to my regular posting schedule! Now that the logistics are out of the way, let’s hop right into this review.

Ever since chopping my hair short in the winter, I’ve been looking for gentle, nourishing products to help my hair stay strong and healthy while I grow it back out. I’d heard a little bit about Pura d’or from several other bloggers and friends, and decided I had to try it out for myself.

2015 Health & Fitness Routine: Part 1

Now that we’re into the middle of March, I feel like it’s time to sit down and look at the aftermath of all of the failed New Year’s Resolutions, especially when it comes to diet and fitness. This point in the year is a great time to refresh those resolutions, or just start making a healthier change in general. And to give you some ideas and inspiration, I thought I’d share my routine with you through this series. This post, part 1, is going to mostly discuss diet, but stay tuned for my fitness routine!

Instanatural Dead Sea Mud Mask Review

I want to begin by apologizing for my lengthiest blogging silence yet. This semester of college has been a lot more difficult than expected, and I’ve had to set aside blogging for a while to get things under control. But now that I’m back, let’s hop right into this review!

Dead Sea Mud Mask Review

I’ve reviewed several other products by Instanatural on my blog before (including a hair mask, a vitamin C serum, and more) and have been pleased with the quality of their all-natural products. But I have to say, this face mask takes the cake.

Not only are all of the ingredients organic and all-natural, but the mask doesn’t contain any chemical additives that may irritate the skin. And at 16 oz., the jar is a generously sized product that will last ages.

The mask has an almost jelly-like texture in the container, but once smoothed onto the face it turns creamier. It’s extremely cooling and soothing on the skin, and has a fairly watery consistency. It goes on dark blue-gray, and dries a lighter gray color, so you know when to wash it off. I will say that it tightens a lot as it dries, and my skin itched a little while I was waiting for all of it to dry completely.

After washing it off with warm water, my skin was incredibly smooth and soft. I finished everything off with a moisturizer, and my skin looked and felt great. I have heard from other people that have tried the mask that some people may experience minor breakouts afterward as their skin purges impurities, but the entire mask experience was amazing. I highly recommend this mask for anyone that struggles with frequently clogged or large pores, and at $25 for an enormous 16 ounce jar, the mask is really reasonably priced.

Probably one of the best things about this product is the quality of the ingredients. You can see in the photo above that all of the ingredients are easily pronounceable and naturally-derived, so people with sensitive skin like mine don’t have to worry about irritation.

I hope you enjoyed this review and found this helpful! Tell me your favorite pampering face mask below in the comments, and thanks for reading!

Top Picks: Wedding Essentials

Like most women, I love weddings. I love the white dresses, the bouquets, and the fancy dinners. I’ve watched “27 Dresses” too many times to count. But no one can deny that planning a wedding (and picking out the perfect dress) are pretty stressful. I heard about Loverly, an incredible site designed to help brides put everything together exactly the way they want for their big day! (Think of it like Pinterest but where everything you see is actually attainable.) They have everything from dresses to color schemes to shoes and more, but I thought I’d just pick out a couple of my favorite gowns and style them for you!

Classic dresses:

1. Emma 2. Harlow

I picked out these two gowns as great classic favorites. The sweetheart necklines and fitted bodices paired with slightly flared skirts create a timelessly feminine silhouette. I love the delicate ruching on the bodice of the Emma dress, and how soft the cascading ruffles are. The Harlow is a great old-fashioned favorite, with an intricately beaded bodice and a gorgeous lace trim on the skirt.

For the first set of dresses, I went with a classic makeup look. The Marc Jacobs Lolita palette has a great selection of warm nudes that pair gorgeously with a soft brown eyeliner smudged into the lashline. For lashes, I went big and voluminous with these two mascaras. I wanted the skin to look naturally flawless, so I went with cult favorite Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, which is known both for its lasting power and its lovely, natural finish. Finally, I decided to brighten the face with a light pinky coral lip color with a slightly shimmery gloss on top.

2014 Favorites

2014 favorites

That’s right, it’s here. I recently received a request on Facebook to sum up my favorite products of 2014, so here it is! This post is focused on my beauty favorites, but if you’d like to see another post on fashion or non-beauty favorites, just leave me a comment down below!

skincare favorites

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that my skin has negative reactions against about 50% of skincare products that I try. Because of this, I’m pretty cautious about trying new skincare, and am always coming back to old favorites. But this year, I discovered a couple of new products that are definitely going on the short list to repurchase.

My first skincare favorite is the Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask. I use this exclusively as a mask, and I’ve found that it’s hugely effective at preventing breakouts before they start. It has a really strong cooling effect and isn’t too drying, which is really great for my combination skin.
