Kohl’s Haul

Summer is a great time to find great deals at stores, and that’s never more true than in mid to late July. These few weeks are a bargain hunter’s heaven because stores are clearing out their spring and summer clothing as they gear up for back-to-school promotions and fall clothing. And while I used to think Kohl’s was too generic or frumpy, I’ve come to really like the store, which often has great sale prices on cute clothing. I stopped by this past weekend and picked up a few things from the massive clearance section, where sale prices were slashed by an additional 60-80%.

The first thing I found in the clearance section was this gorgeous halter top maxi dress. It’s super light and airy when on, and the blue color is vivid without being too distracting. The skirt is partially lined on the inside, where the lining ends at about knee height. There’s also a slit up the back of the skirt to give you more freedom when walking. Even though it’s only partially lined, the pattern makes it so that you can’t tell, so there isn’t a harsh cutoff line visible from the outside at all, which I really like.

I picked up two articles of clothing from Mudd, which I find carries great comfortable, laid-back staple clothing pieces. I can never have too many v-necks, so I bought this floral patterned one. I actually already own two of the Mudd v-necks already, in solid navy blue and orchid, but I love the relaxed fit of the size mediums and the fabric is light and comfortable and great for layering. I loved how the floral pattern was muted a little on the gray background, but the orange and red tones still warm up the shirt.

I also purchased this pair of gray jeggings. I was, admittedly, very against the whole jegging trend when it hit a couple of years ago, but I seriously love these pants. They’re pretty thick, as thick as normal jeans, so you don’t feel like you’re just wearing leggings. But the stretch and comfort of these pants is basically unbeatable. The front pockets are false, but the pockets on the seat of the pants are real, and they have the same button and zipper closure as normal jeans. I tried on both a size 1 and a size 3, and found that the 3 fit more like regular jeans, while the size 1 pair hugged the skin more like leggings. I’m really excited to wear these with boots in the fall, and I think they’ll look great!

The last thing I got from Kohl’s was this terry bath wrap. I’ve been shopping around for things to take to campus in the fall, and this wrap caught my eye. I think it’ll come in handy because it doubles as a towel and a robe, so I can use it to dry off and then wear it back to my room to change. That way, I don’t have to haul all my stuff to the community bathroom with me.
