Mini Beauty Haul!

I’ve never been the type to go to the store and blow my money on a huge stash of products at once. Instead, I usually go every few weeks and pick up stuff as it goes on sale. I’ve picked up some products lately that I wanted to mention, so here they are! (Want to see a full in-depth review on any of these products? Drop me a comment down below and tell me!)

By the way, if you were wondering about the different background and lighting, I’m now shooting from my dorm room, so expect some small changes in my photos!

I picked up these two lip products some time ago, and have been using them pretty regularly for the past few weeks. I purchased one of the Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms last year in the winter time, and decided to pick up a more summer appropriate one. This one is clear and mint flavored, and has the added bonus of having SPF 20. I’ve been using it pretty much every day, and find that these balms moisturize and nourish my lips really well, especially for being drugstore purchases.

When the Almay Liquid Lip Balms were first released a while back, they garnered a lot of attention from other beauty bloggers, so when they went on offer in stores I picked up one in the shade 600 “blooming”. Blooming is a great pinky nude for everyday wear, and the formula is pretty nice. They’re a little creamier than normal lip glosses, and the color payoff is pretty good. I will say that these have a very noticeable scent that I’m not sure that I like. It’s a very sweet, sugary, cupcake smell that may be off-putting for some people.

lip productsCoastal Scents is a brand I’ve never tried before, but their Revealed palettes have a reputation for being very good dupes for Urban Decay’s Naked series. While they more recently released a Revealed 2 palette that has similar shades to the Naked 3, I decided to pick up the original Revealed palette. After being a little disappointed with the Physician’s Formula palette (read a full review here) I’m hoping this one will turn out a little better. If you’d like to see swatches and a full review of this palette, just tell me down below in the comments, I’d love to write one up for you guys!

revealed paletteThe last things I bought were just some essential products I needed to replace my old ones. But here’s where I’m forced to be honest with you: I’ve been breaking a cardinal beauty rule and skipping the SPF. This is probably made so much worse due to the fact that I live in Texas, where the heat index nears 110 degrees in the afternoons. But this past weekend I went to a different drugstore than I usually go to, and got my hands on the Protecting Light Moisturizer by Simple. I’ve had tons of negative experiences with SPF lotions in the past, and they always make my skin greasy and lead to breakouts. But I’ve never had any issues with Simple products before, and their Rich Replenishing Lotion is my holy grail moisturizer, so I had to buy this when I saw it on the shelf. With a light, non-greasy formula and SPF 15, I’m hoping that this will solve my problem.

Finally, the last thing I bought were these makeup wipes by Neutrogena. The great thing about these is that Costco sells them in enormous boxes, but I have to say that these aren’t exactly the best wipes ever. They definitely get the job done and remove my face and eye makeup, but I always feel like I need to wash off the residue immediately after.

Great idea to buy some winter lip balm. I usually wear it in the summer or the obvious times when they feel a little dry, but I should pick some up for the winter use too. I go to college up north now, so that will be a good tip to have 🙂 Thats weird that Neutrogena leaves a residue, I use the “night calming” verison, (it comes in purple instead of blue) and I feel fine after using it. Wonder if that makes a difference! Good post 🙂
