Blackout Fashion Haul

It’s no secret that I tend to wear a lot of black. I also happen to really like buying black clothing, since those pieces usually end up becoming great staple pieces in my closet. (And they’re always easy to mix and match.) I haven’t done a fashion post in a while, so I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve picked up in the last month or two.

20140916_123008Crop top:

I’ve mentioned before that I wasn’t the greatest fan of the crop top trend, but this black one was $4 at Forever 21, so I decided to give it a shot. I’ve found that it’s actually really cute over high-waisted skater skirts, and the solid black color makes it slimming and not too high profile.

Lace dress:

The LBD (little black dress) is a staple piece in every closet, and I decided to get this Urban Outfitters dress as a more casual alternative to the black dress I already own. The slender spaghetti straps are adjustable, which is really nice, and the fabric is light and comfortable to wear. I actually purchased it for $15 from someone who had ordered it online and had been unable to return it when the dress didn’t fit them, so I’d definitely classify this one as a steal.

Skater skirt:

The skater skirt has been a continuing summer and early fall trend, which I’m so happy about. The slightly high-waisted fit and flared silhouette shrink your waist and flatter your legs. I own a polka-dotted one in blue, but I figured a black one would go with a lot of different tops. I purchased this particular one for $6 at Forever 21.

Soft pants:

Both soft pants and their looser cousins, palazzo pants, were big hits this summer. To take this trend to fall, I decided to pick up a solid black pair. I think they’ll be cute with a solid v-neck tee or tank on lazy days, and they’re a more fashionable alternative to sweatpants. The solid black color also has a more slimming effect on the legs than the loud, bright patterns of summer, so I’m really excited to wear these as the weather cools down!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post! What’s your favorite piece of black clothing in your closet? Tell me in the comments down below!
