Like most women, I love weddings. I love the white dresses, the bouquets, and the fancy dinners. I’ve watched “27 Dresses” too many times to count. But no one can deny that planning a wedding (and picking out the perfect dress) are pretty stressful. I heard about Loverly, an incredible site designed to help brides put everything together exactly the way they want for their big day! (Think of it like Pinterest but where everything you see is actually attainable.) They have everything from dresses to color schemes to shoes and more, but I thought I’d just pick out a couple of my favorite gowns and style them for you!
I picked out these two gowns as great classic favorites. The sweetheart necklines and fitted bodices paired with slightly flared skirts create a timelessly feminine silhouette. I love the delicate ruching on the bodice of the Emma dress, and how soft the cascading ruffles are. The Harlow is a great old-fashioned favorite, with an intricately beaded bodice and a gorgeous lace trim on the skirt.
For the first set of dresses, I went with a classic makeup look. The Marc Jacobs Lolita palette has a great selection of warm nudes that pair gorgeously with a soft brown eyeliner smudged into the lashline. For lashes, I went big and voluminous with these two mascaras. I wanted the skin to look naturally flawless, so I went with cult favorite Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, which is known both for its lasting power and its lovely, natural finish. Finally, I decided to brighten the face with a light pinky coral lip color with a slightly shimmery gloss on top.
For the second set of dresses, I selected two ethereal, flowing dresses that have slimmer, more modern silhouettes. (These are more my cup of tea, since I find that full skirts tend to overwhelm more petite frames like mine.) I love a good tulle overlay on skirts, since they give them that misty, cloud-like quality. I also think the sheer detailing on the bust of the Calla dress and on the sleeves of the Ballet dress are a great way to add some intricacy to a simple dress.
I put together this dewy, fresh-faced makeup look to go with the above gowns. The Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation has great coverage with a natural finish, and paired with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette, will give a gorgeous luminous look. I wanted to warm the skin up and give the “blushing bride” effect with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes. The palette has three gorgeous, finely milled shades that have the perfect amount of shimmer to give a “lit from within” glow. To define and draw attention to the eyes, I picked out the Kat Von D liquid eyeliner. Its no-budge formula and ultra black color create a gorgeous winged line, which I think would look amazing paired with long, fluttery lashes. For the lips, I went with a glossy balm that would provide a flush of color without being too high-maintenance.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my take on two wedding looks! Which dress and makeup look was your favorite? Tell me down below in the comments, I would love to know!
